What is Arthritis1?
It is a general term which means “inflammation of a joint”.
Arthritis is of two main types:
2. Rheumatoid Arthritis
What is Osteoarthritis1?
Also called degenerative joint disease, it is the most common type of arthritis. It happens when the cartilage in joints break down, often in hips & or knees. Wearing and tearing of cartilage leads to rubbing of the ends of the bones, which causes pain and swelling. Cartilage is a sponge type material that covers the ends of long bones in a joint.
What is Rheumatoid arthritis1?
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, autoimmune disorder that most commonly causes inflammation and tissue damage in joints and tendons. The cause of RA is not clearly known but it mainly happens due to formation of antibodies against body’s own joint tissue. These antibodies start destroying the own joint tissue slowly.
What happens in Osteoarthritis2?
The cartilage remodeling keeps going on in a normal joint i.e. there is a balance of degradation & synthesis which keeps the cartilage healthy. The cartilage remodeling is imbalanced in OA, degradation is more than the synthesis.
Why does this happen2?
Excessive mechanical pressure/stress forces cells of cartilage to produce & release more of degradative enzymes. The result is that there is thinning of the cartilage tissue and its shock absorbing capacity is reduced.
What is Mobiplus?
Mobiplus is a combination of:
1. 750 mg of vegetarian source glucosamine sulphate.
2. 250 mg of Curcumin extract.
3. 50 mg of Boswellia Serrata Extract.
4. 2.5 mg of Piperine extract.
How can Mobiplus help?
Glucosamine Sulphate in Mobiplus helps provide building blocks of cartilage. Glucosamine in Mobiplus is sourced from corn fermentation. Usually Glucosamine is derived from animal source in widely available brands in the market. This animal source glucosamine may have a drawback of causing allergy in some people3.
The unique feature of vegetarian source glucosamine ensures that there is consistency as well as quality in each dose of glucosamine delivered through Mobiplus. Since glucosamine in Mobiplus is derived from corn fermentation, there is least possibility of any allergic reaction in people who consume the same3.
Curcumin extract in Mobiplus acts as a good anti-inflammatory agent since it works on pathways of inflammation & reduces the agents that cause inflammation4. Reduction in inflammation results in reduction in pain as well as stiffness of the joints and hence helps in recovering the mobility among Osteoarthritis patients4.
Mobiplus also contains Piperine extract. There is better absorption of Curcumin extract when taken along with Piperine extract than it is taken without it5.
Mobiplus also provides Boswellia Serrata extract which is a good anti-inflammatory agent. Boswellia Serrata extract has been found to reduce pain & inflammation in arthritic joints and help improve the ability to walk5.
